Meeting date: 09/22/2008 LOCAL 56 GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING Wilder School September 22, 2008 5:00 P.M.
Meeting was called to order at 5:10 p.m. by President Monica Shockency. Roll call of officers: Char Beyel, Ivy Dumas, Pam Durand, Monica Shockency, Pat Taylor and Business Agent, Tom Burke. Absent: Vicki Hamilton (no call), Ginny Hansen (called), Sylvia Lattin (no call).
President’s Report: 1. Tom and Monica met with Supt. Green last month. More schools might be closing next year. Will be a deficit next year. Dr. Green was interested in how inservice in August went. Will be meeting tomorrow again. 2. Two grievances at this time. A lot of performance loudermills. 3. No Labor Relations meetings as we are in negotiations. 4. Monica introduced Jon Grebner from Council 5 who spoke with us regarding the Referendum. Jon mentioned that the political reality is that if the Local is not in favor of the referendum that it looks bad for AFSCME. Monica explained that we are not battling against the referendum, just not supporting it.
Secretary’s Report: Motion to approve the minutes as presented was made by Ivy Dumas and seconded by Lois Parker. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report: None.
Business Agent’s Report: Tom stated that negotiations are underway. We have had 3 sessions. Our committee has given their proposal and we have received the Districts but it had no financial specifics. Peggy Ingison, CFO, talked to the committee about the District’s financial position. She stated that there is $$ for a COLA and modest steps built into the budget for this year but she is very concerned about what the second year of the contract will look like.
Motion to adjourn was made by Pam Durand and seconded by Ivy Dumas at 6:15 p.m. Motion passed and meeting adjourned.
